20 years since the Ohrid Framework Agreement

August 13, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, an Agreement that contributed to increasing the cohesion of our society, creating an equal and one society for all citizens and communities, as well as the integration of the Republic of North Macedonia into NATO and the EU.

The normative part that arose from the Ohrid Framework Agreement and Amendment 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia was rounded off with the adoption of the Law on the Use of Languages, and all other legal amendments and bylaws for equitable representation.

In order to realize one of the key postulates of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, ie implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages, the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages was established. The Inspectorate for the Use of Languages plays a key role in protecting, promoting, affirming and supporting the use of the Albanian language, but also all other languages of the citizens living in our country, in order to guarantee interethnic tolerance and stronger social cohesion of all communities in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The Ohrid Framework Agreement is one of the most important documents of North Macedonia, a document that guarantees peace, stability, equitable representation and social cohesion in the Republic of North Macedonia.
